Basketball is my favorite sport…
by jtphillips on Feb.28, 2009, under Photojournalism, Sports
I shot the opening round of the Region AAAAA Girls State Basketball Tournament last night for the Gwinnett Daily Post. Here are a few outtakes from the game. Duluth wound up beating Berkmar in the end.

Music for Your Ears
by jtphillips on Feb.27, 2009, under Music
This posting is by far the longest I have had yet. I wanted to share with you some of the music acts I have shot over the past three or four years and there seemed to be a little more than I bargained for. I thought about putting them in a gallery but I just didn’t like the feel of Midcity and until I can come up with something better I guess it may be the longest photo post in history. These are photos of S2 from Athens, GA, Little Green Chairs from Athens, GA, The Work, Open for Now, Cadillac Johnson, Aerial 2012, Warped Tour 2006, Locabazooka 2005, Keith Urban, Goodie Mob and Bob Seger.

A Midcity’s Night Dream
by jtphillips on Feb.27, 2009, under Art
A few years ago I worked out an idea to hang a show at a little bar on Spring Street in downtown Atlanta called Midcity Cafe. The theme of the show would be the actual bar and these are the photos that were hung.

Circus of the Senses
by jtphillips on Feb.19, 2009, under Feature, Photojournalism
The Big Apple Circus has come to Stone Mountain Park. Tonight they performed a special show for children who are vision and hearing impaired. They had headphones giving a play by play description of the action going on in the ring for the kids who could not see and sign language interpreters for those that could not hear. After the show they invited a few of the children and their families into the ring to experience some of the sensations of the performers, their costumes, their animals and some of the stunts that they performed. It was a very cool experience.

In Your Face Basketball
by jtphillips on Feb.11, 2009, under Photojournalism, Sports
I shot this assignment for the Gwinnett Daily Post last night. Berkmar played South Gwinnett and South won by a small margin. The game went back and forth pretty much the entire evening with the score seeming to flip-flop by two or three points every time the players went up and down the court.
