On the way home from shooting the first football game of the season a storm rolled through Gwinnett County. I decided that since it had been lightning since I had gotten into my car all the way until I was almost home that I would stop and try my luck!

A Brave New World

Fire Explorers are high school students age 14 - 19 that are interested in becoming full fledged firefighters later on in life. Gwinnett County has a class of 18 explorers this year that are learning those necessary skills. Explorers learn the same techniques used by the full time men and women of the department. Instead of going on Spring Break this past week a handful of the explorers decided that they would drill for an upcoming competition with other explorer programs around the state.

Head on Down the Highway

With a little trial and error Thursday night I got to take a few photos that I really enjoyed shooting. If you have noticed most of the lights on the major interstates have been shut off to try and save their respective counties some money. The newly improved 85-316 interchange has greatly increased traffic flow for Gwinnett however it seems that there is some cause for concern for safety in regards to the decision to shut off these lights. So it seems, for the time being at least, that they have been switched back on.

Run Baby Run

I shot the second day of the Gwinnett County Track & Field Championships this afternoon. Unfortunately the field events for varsity were already completed so this is all events from the track. Still exciting though and Collins Hill girls scraped past Parkview for the overall team win. This will make their eighth straight county championship. The Parkview Panthers boys team on the other slaughtered their competition to win the team championship.
